• Here is Wikipedia’s history of blog:

‘The term “weblog” was coined by Jorn Barger on 17 December 1997. The short form, “blog,” was coined by Peter Merholz, who jokingly broke the word weblog into the phrase we blog in the sidebar of his blog Peterme.com in April or May 1999. Shortly thereafter, Evan Williams at Pyra Labs used “blog” as both a noun and verb (“to blog,” meaning “to edit one’s weblog or to post to one’s weblog”) and devised the term “blogger” in connection with Pyra Labs’ Blogger product, leading to the popularization of the terms.’

But, what is a blog? My mentor in this new course of communication is a man named David Meerman Scott who wrote the book The New Rules of Marketing and PR.  tells us that blogs are just part of the whole Social Media thing. It’s a place where people share ideas, content, thoughts and relationships online. Unlike mainstream media, newspapers, magazines etc. social media allows anyone to create, comment on, and add to social media content. Blogs, facebook, twitter and so forth are all forms of getting involved online.

The web is like a city and the social media is like the bars, private clubs, and cocktail parties of the city. Therefore, you can attend or not.

Now that you have attended my party I would love to hear from you, in your comment.
